CANDIDACY
Candidacy is a stage of initial formation given to the young girls recruited from different states of India. This is a period when they are given insertion into practice of fundamental Christian spiritual exercises, ability for spoken English and introduction to different apostolic activities of the congregation. After this stage of formation, those girls who have joined after passing the Secondary Board Examination pursue the Higher Secondary course for two more years before their entry into Postulancy. However all the candidates are subjected to a screening test to learn of their motivation, their physical fitness and mental aptitude to enable the directresses to guide and counsel them.
The Candidates stay at Deepanjali and at present Sr. MaryJosephine is the directress of the candidates. There is a fixed time table and set programme for the candidates.
Prayer
- The spirit of prayer is one of the most important aspects that we inculcate in the candidates.
- They are initiated to pray in the morning, afternoon evening and night.
- They are taught to say Jesus’s prayer throughout the day.
- Eucharistic adoration is an encounter with God. We have once a week Eucharistic adoration.
- They are encouraged to pray for their family and for each other.
- The taste of prayer is given to them by being with them during the prayer and conducting ten minutes of meditation.
- They try to connect themselves to God in their own ways.
ENGLISH CLASSES
- Studying English can help progress in life both personally and professionally. We do give more importance to learn the language.
- Regular English classes are taken besides this they do watch English conversation videos, Tongue twisters, loud reading and storybooks are some of the aids provided to them to improve their language.
- Every day they learn ten new words. We provide the material which helps them to improve their language.
- Regular Catechism class is taken to deepen their knowledge about God and the church.
- They are initiated to read Bible every day for twenty minutes. Every day’s readings are read and explained. Every week they are given a parable to act out in order to be familiar with the Gospel passages.
- Every week Saints movies are screened to them.
Values
- Values are like lighthouses, they are signals showing us direction, meaning, and purpose. Value education is given primary importance.
- They are informed about and shown living examples and role models for imbibing and living out personal, spiritual, congregational, and social values.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
- Every day we have different recreational activities like organized recreation, action songs, party games, talent show, and sharing with each other to know more about one another.
- All these skills have been improving their quality of life.
- The co-curricular activities are part of their weekly program.
- To identify and initiate their inherent talents various competitions are conducted every Friday.
- These include creative writing, public speaking, singing, dance, acting and mimicry, art and craft, storytelling, creating wealth out of waste, etc.
- All these are done in view to give them a wider vision of religious life and also to create awareness about the increasing social, cultural, economic, and environmental issues and concerns.
