Spirituality:
“Action is valuable only when it has its source in contemplation” – St Charles Borromeo
Our spirituality is being more God- centered and Christ-like. We allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit to a constantly renewed discovery of God and His Word to a burning love for God and humanity.
Our Spirituality is a process of ongoing conversion and transformation. Listening to and contemplation on the Word of God will make us heralds of the good news in word and action. What can touch the hearts of people is the transforming presence of God which happens within a community where life with its joys and pains is shared. We meditate before, during and after everything we do. The prophet says: “I will pray and then I will understand.” This is the way we can easily overcome the countless difficulties we have to face day after day, which, after all, is part of our redemptive work.
Since holiness is the goal of our life we take utmost care to live out our spirituality. God does not want action alone. Our work should be the expression or out flow of our holiness. Contemplation allows us to renew our active lives so that all we do does not become mindless action but rather glorifies God. Our activity leads us again into a time of stopping, resting, reflecting and then returning to activity with greater zeal and purpose. Being a contemplative in action means that our active life feeds our contemplative life and our contemplative life informs our active life. That is what contemplation in action means and the cycle never ends.
