Sr.Regina Rodrigues sister of Monica Rodrigues joined our congregation after completing her T.C.H. in St.Ann’s Basic Trainig School, Mangalore. Besides being a teacher, she worked as BCC animator of Mumbai diocese for 10 years in collaboration with Bishop Bosco Penha. She was known as a ‘sister on wheels, visiting the sick and the home bound people. With keen interest she spread the devotion to Mother Mary and Divine Mercy of Jesus. She died singing the praises of God particularly asking the sisters around her to sing “Mundhe Hoguvenu” means ‘let’s go forward.’

The intense desire to serve the Lord in the poor and the needy and to live in union with Him motivated Sr.Getrmaine to embrace religious life as a sister of St.Charles Borromeo. She had a rare capacity of sensing the needs of others and rendering her service unassumingly. After serving the lord for 50 years in His Vineyard the Lord called her back to Himself to reward her a hundred fold in His abode. We remain grateful to you Sr.Germaine for your simple and edifying life as consecrated religious.

Sr .Tresa Joseph was the only daughter to parents Joseph and Marium along with 4 brothters who generously offered her to the service of the Lord. Sr. Tresa touched the lives of many people as a nurse in Shimoga, Banglore, Belgum and Bhadravathi. A simple and unassuming sister, accepted joys and pains as God’s will. Sr. Tresa remained always faithful and cheerful accepting God’s will and plan even in her suffering from brain tumour

Sr.Berchmans Fernandes was a former student of Mary Immaculate School, Shimoga. A devout family background was a garden where she nurtured the seed of vocation.. Her great desire to serve the Lord in the poor and to live in close union with Him, motivated her to join the congregation of the sisters of St.Charles Borromeo. She excelled in the field of teaching and pastoral work. She was a person of calm, serene and peaceful nature. She died as she lived very peacefully in the early hours of the day on 12th July 2013. May her soul rest in peace.

The first Medical Doctor in our congregation, Her serene, composed and gentle nature attracted many patients to her. Promoting many vocations from among her relatives speaks about her love for the congregation and to the Consecrated life. She enjoyed everything in life:- food, places, persons, surroundings. The last 8 years of her life, she was confined to the room and ambulated on wheel chair. She was well prepared to meet Jesus, her Lord and master by her community members at Belgaum and by her priest brother, Rev.Fr.Mathew Mattam.
Sr.Veronica, the legacy of serving the sick with compassion and joy will remain as an example to all our sister doctors and nurses. Thank you sister.

Sr.Helena hails from Bajpe, Mangalore. Against the wish of her father who wanted her to pursue her higher education, she joined the postulancy at Shimoga in 1949. A Vietnamese proverb says that when eating a fruit remember the one who planted the tree. Sr.Helana had green fingers. Whatever she planted bore abundant fruit. Throughout her life she served the poorest of the poor. Sr.Helana, we will remember your zeal in making Christ known to others and your love and service to the poor and the marginalized.

Sr. Mechtilde was the First Nurse of the Congregation trained at St. Martha’s Hospital, Bangalore. She rendered her Loving care and service to the poorest of the Poor to the psychiatric patients in Belgium and then worked as a Nurse in Nirmala Hospital. She suffered very silently with the radiant Joy on her face.
In the single word all that we can say of Sr. Mechtilde is “For God alone my soul waits in silence

After completing her studies in Mangalore she joined St. Charles Convent at Shimoga in 1944. Being an efficient teacher rendered her service in the schools of different communities. Her dedicated service at Shimoga brought her laurels. She was loved by everyone. She breathed her last on 14.04.2017. May at the age of 95.

Flowers bloom and seeds sprout silently and so our dear Sr.O.V. Mary passed away quietly and peacefully in the silence of the night. Sr.O.V Mary served in the congregation as a nurse. Though she looked serious in appearance she was very kind and witty. She chose September 8 to celebrate her Feast day and often would express her desire saying, “I wish I could die on 8th September on Mother Mary’s Birthday.”Mother Mary whom she loved so dearly carried her to her son Jesus on September 8, 2017. During her prolonged period of suffering she was well prepared to meet her end.

Sr. Monica Rodrigues Journyed her life singing the praises of God for the 84 years. As a trained teacher she zealously worked touching the minds and hearts of the young people by instilling in them values of right living. She is also known for her beautiful hand writing, accurate accounting and systematic documentation. She suffered patiently and joyfully for two years from ill health and died on 23rd October 2018.

Sr.Julia who hailed from Colaba fort, Mumbai, joined the sisters of St.Charles in 1954. She held various portfolios and ministries as she was willing and capable of doing any work. She was a dietitian at Nirmala Hospital Bhadravathy N.T., a pioneer missionary at Chembur, Mumbai, an effective BCC animator. She was a comforting angel to the sick, a solace to the home-bound and the aged, a loving mother to the orphaned. She died on 21st January 2018 . May her soul rest in peace.

Sr. Thressia’s was a spirited and determined to live her commitment to the full. She joined the Srs. of St.Charles Borromeo and worked as a missionary in Belgim for 35 years. She was much involved in diocesan activities. She had a positive influence on the youth and affirmed them in moral values. She was an active member in our association “Solidarite Sans Frontiere”.
She returned to India in 2017 due to ill health. She died on 17th December 2018.

Sr. Benigna D’Souza was born in Bejai, Mangalore. She has a rich experience in teaching, animating the communities and in forming the young religious. She volunteered to go to Argentina as a Missionary and served the Argentinians as the superior and Directress of the Home for the Aged After her death a valuable and inspiring text was found in her diary. Sr.Felcy was born at Bajpe, Mangalore. Being groomed in a God fearing Catholic family, Sr. Felcy felt God was calling her to commit her life to His mission.
As a trained teacher, she was very much involved in the diocesan church activities and had a positive influence on people and affirmed them in the gospel values in India, Argentina and Belgium. In 2018, she returned to India due to cancer. Her enthusiasm and zeal has touched many hearts and left a beautiful witness of religious life to the people of India, Argentina and Belgium

Sr. Adrien born in Aleppey , Kerala, heard the voice of God calling to join the congregation of sisters of St. Charles Borromeo.
As a teacher Sr. Adrien was always compassionate and merciful to thestudents especially to orphans and Boarders. She was a silent missionary and avery committed religious and lived her life to the full in the vineyard of God. Sr. Adrien truly believed in the promises of God “I passed through raging water in the sea and not drowned, because God was with her the entire time.”

Damian has crossed all levels of every hurdles in this long journey of 80 years. She had a positive attitude toward life and had an encouraging word to those around her. Silently she hid her pains and aches wearing an attractive smile.
She served as teacher, animator, vice provincial and Provincial superior of western province. Good position and attention did not prevent her from being simple, prayerful and faithful to her duties
As she was dying the community that stood around her saw her raising her hands upward as though someone held her to raise her up. She was beautiful in life and in death.

Sr. Rita Antony is the sister of late Sr. Cecilia Antony who dedicated her life to the service of Jesus in our Congregation. Sr.Rita worked as a teacher in different English medium schools. Sr. Rita Lived very simple, humble, committed religious life and was always faithful in little things. As a musician, singer and composer, she used her gifts to evangelize and to communicate God’s love to all. The last two years of her earthly life, she was homebound, suffering from heart disease. She was called by her master to enjoy the eternal bliss on 26.10.2020

Sr.Alex Pinto was a vibrant, joyful, energetic and optimistic person. I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live…….(sung) Sr.Alex was a musician of exceptional quality, had great influence on the youth. In the congregation the name of Sr. Alex has almost become synonymous to music. One of the last memories of Sr. Alex is teachingis her compositions, ‘the anthem of St. Charles Borromeo.’ Sr. Alex’s missionary spirit and great love for the congregation impelled her to help our mission in India, European countries as well as in Tanzania, East Africa.

Sr. Mary Usha was born in Kerala , she responded generously to the call of God and entered the congregation of Srs of St. Charles Borromeo and made her first profession on 11th may 1975.
Sr. Usha has always been a person of responsibility with keen interest, earnestness & zeal. Even in her difficult times of suffering she has never complained about it, she was always joyful and hoped of returning back to the normal health condition. Sr. Usha has lived a life of legacy and has left an imprint for each one of us to follow.

Sr. Chanthal hails from Changanacheri diocese, Kerala. She said yes to the call of God and willingly expressed her desired to work in the vineyard of God by joining the congregation of Sister’s of St. Charles of Borromeo.
As a teacher, headmistress and animator she served in many places. She challenged herself in learning the language of every place she worked, teaching the weaker students and making their lives shine better. She will always be remembered as a beacon of light in the hearts of many. Sr. Chantal kept the words of the Master alive by saying “I have fought good fight, I have finished race, and I kept the faith”
